Dear friend,
I hope the following articles will challenge you to think seriously about life’s ultimate questions concerning God, our relationship with him, and our eternal destiny.
I have written with sincerity and genuine respect for the Catholic reader. Catholics and evangelicals share many central Christian truths, expressed in the historic creeds, and I gladly recognise what is good and beautiful in the Catholic faith. Yet there are also real differences between us, especially concerning the gospel and the way of salvation. These differences matter, and they deserve to be considered honestly, carefully and prayerfully in the light of God’s Word.
In many ways, these pages reflect my own journey. I was raised as a Catholic, and my search for a clearer understanding of the gospel was not always easy. Questions of faith touch some of our deepest convictions and loyalties. Yet surely no questions deserve more serious attention. The Bible invites us: “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
God’s grace changed my life. Through Christ I have come to know God’s forgiveness, peace, and the confident hope of eternal life. I am forever grateful, and I simply cannot keep this treasure to myself. My prayer is that your heart, too, will be drawn to Jesus and that you will experience his loving embrace. Truly, there is no greater joy in this world.
The articles that follow are built around a series of questions. Take your time with each one, asking God to guide you into the truth. Keep your Bible at hand and examine the passages for yourself. Think carefully, weigh everything against the teaching of Scripture, and consider how God wants you to respond, especially in your relationship with the Lord Jesus.
